School teacher fired: Police need to take charge
A high school in Tucson is now down one physics instructor following his challenge to Donald Trump’s assertion regarding the existence of more than two genders.
Les Beard, a physics teacher at Marana High School, conveyed to his students that a specific intersex condition, androgen insensitivity syndrome (AIS), causes some individuals categorized as male to possess female characteristics.
Independent journalist James O’Keefe disseminated a recording of Beard's lecture on AIS, which was captured by a student, and subsequently reported Beard’s suspension.
During his lecture, Beard asserted that individuals with AIS are women exhibiting both female and male sex organs. He also included a statement questioning the foundation of President Donald Trump’s public declarations and recent executive orders concerning gender identity.
“But typically, all of these women possess female sex organs; they also exhibit male sex organs. Thus, if one were to conduct an X-ray, the underlying male anatomy would be evident. However, to the untrained eye, they appear quite ordinary. So what classification applies to them? Are they men? Mr. Trump asserts so,” Beard stated. “Medical professionals inform you, ‘Well, you are fundamentally a male,’ yet none genuinely believe it since they have identified as women throughout their lives.”
One of President Trump’s initial executive orders upon assuming office last week asserted the existence of only two genders: male and female.
All individuals with AIS possess XY chromosomes, indicating that the biological sex of all AIS individuals is male. Contrary to Beard's claims, those with AIS do not possess “female sex organs.” Individuals with AIS lack a female reproductive system, including ovaries, fallopian tubes, or a uterus. Consequently, menstruation, ovulation, and pregnancy are unfeasible.
AIS is classified among an estimated thirty intersex genetic disorders, characterized by atypical sexual or reproductive anatomy. AIS pertains to a compromised physiological response to androgens, the hormones responsible for male development.
In individuals with AIS, the body fails to respond appropriately to androgens, such as testosterone (the primary androgen). This insensitivity results in either the underdevelopment or absence of a penis, alongside fully or partially undescended testicles.
Due to their androgen insensitivity, individuals with AIS may possess genitals that superficially resemble female anatomy; however, these are not biologically female genitals. Additionally, individuals with AIS may develop breast tissue due to their bodies’ inability to respond to androgens, the male sex hormones. For these reasons, some individuals with AIS are raised as females; nonetheless, this does not designate them as female. Biologically, they remain males with a genetic disorder.
In a report accompanying the leaked audio, the O’Keefe Media Group (OMG) included the following statement from Allison Benjamin, spokesperson for the Marana High School District:
“We are proud to provide our students with challenging academics, full extracurricular offerings, and experiences that enhance their personal growth and development. To help provide optimal learning environments for all students, we have adopted policies that provide guidance and expectations for teachers and staff, including: 1. Teaching to the state standards that are focused on course content. 2. Providing a learning environment where teachers remain neutral and refrain from sharing their personal beliefs and opinions. Our district is committed to making sure these policies are clear and honored by all staff. The administration will follow appropriate guidelines detailed in district policy to ensure all staff fulfill these expectations.”
The Police need to be ready this time
Last night, there were no arrests made, leading the protesters to believe that they can engage in the destruction of property, businesses, and more without the fear of apprehension.
They may feel invincible against potential arrests. It is imperative that law enforcement now takes decisive action to surround and apprehend these individuals, as they are likely to employ the same tactics in the future.
As I previously articulated, I hold profound respect for the police, firefighters, and first responders who serve to protect us all.
However, this is an opportune moment for the police to assert their authority and demonstrate to the protesters that they cannot undermine the integrity of our police departments.
I have the utmost support for the veterans, police, firefighters, first responders, and healthcare workers for their exceptional service and sacrifices in ensuring our nation's safety and stability.
